5 movies you need to rewatch this September

It seems like only yesterday we were dwelling between going to the beach or to a pool party, wearing those translucent clothes we love so much and sipping ice teas. But right now, autumn is just settling in with its rainy days and chilly weather so we need to take out those comfy blankets from the back of our closets and just settle in with a cup of cocoa and a good movie. The down side is they don’t make them as they used to back in the day, so we thought we could tip you off with some good “oldies but goldies.”

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is always a great pick, no matter how many times you’ve seen. How could you not enjoy Joel’s little thoughts like “Sand is overrated. It’s just tiny, little rocks.”. What makes this movie so special is the fact that each time you see it, even though you know how it’s going to end, you’re right there, in it, living the abysmal love story between Joel and Clementine. The perplexity of this movie manifests itself through the amazing ways in which the director approached the spectrum of human mind. Would you completely erase one of your relationships from your memory, if you could?

“Run, Forrest, Run!” is a catchphrase we all know and love. Forrest Gump has evolved a long time ago from being a simple movie. What can only be described as an unlikely main-character in all the unlikelihood situations, transforms into a beautiful metaphor about our times seen through the eyes of someone who lacks cynicism and whose only guardians are congeniality and sincerity.

Another one of our favorites is the great Die Hard. You know Joey and Chandler rewatched it for about a million times, so what shouldn’t you? Not as deep and meaningful as our last two suggestions, but the thrill-a-minute effect might just do the trick. The action of this movie doesn’t waste one second, so if you want (and you know you do) get build up alongside John McClane and feel the suspense, this is your winner.

Robin Williams is always going to be an icon close to our heart and whichever movie starring him you’re going to pick, you can’t go wrong. We chose Patch Adams this time because it is so heart-warming it might just make up for the cold weather outside. Inspired by a true story, it proves our hunch that laughter is always the best medicine and Patch might just be the greatest medical maverick you’ve ever seen.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is our last suggestion for the day and frankly a trip down memory lane. Get caught up once again in the razzle-dazzle of this movie and give your inner child back the imagination it has been longing for. We all love Wonka’s wonderful weirdness and remember “Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker.”.

If you’re up for a marathon we could also suggest the marvelous Harry Potter series, but that’s just going to make you feel blue for not getting your letter to Hogwarts. These being said, grab some popcorn and enjoy some of the most remarkable cinema pieces we’ve ever laid our eyes on.

About the author

Leonescu Claudia

Initially when I turned to writing it was a decision made on some pretty shallow grounds, first off it was Carrie Bradshaw building a fire under my writing juices. Spicing that up with some reading, somewhere in my 2nd year of collage I was already fascinated. Margaret Laurence once said ”When I say work I only mean writing. Everything else is just odd jobs.” and I find that painfully true.
If it's something you're drawn to, you reach for it in any of its forms, either it's in a newspaper, on a blog, maybe a book or a novel or you just go full-freelancing, you reach for it:)
